Why do people believe vampires are real when there is no evidence to support them?

23 April 2011 549 views 22 Comments

I’m tired with all this vampire talk. They are not real and anyone is welcome to change my mind with a little hard evidence. I think it is all because of Twilight that people believe they are real.
For those that want evidence that they don’t exist I can’t prove they don’t. I also can’t disprove the flying spaghetti monster.

yeah, I agree that it is because of Twilight too.
but how can one say that vampires don’t exist if they haven’t seen any?

If you want hard evidence look for it yourself.
it is out there but in my experience people who say prove it will not accept what they want proven even if it in this case came up and bit them.
yes people are currently obsessed with them becasue of twilight (not in Australia yet as it has only just been released)
the proof is out there if you cant find it them you are not looking hard enough or don’t want to find it.
edit why do people believe in god when there is no hard evidence and a book written by a bunch of dead guys who are not here to verify what they have written is not proof nor is people beating cancer against all odds. people find the proof they want in anything they can.
Just becasue you don’t believe in it doesn’t mean it couldn’t possibly exist.
To quote Friends “Wasn’t there a time when the brightest minds in the world believed the earth was flat. are you so unbelievably arrogant that you cannot admit that there is a teeny tine possibility that you could be wrong about this?”
Why is it so hard for people to admit that it could be possible, however improbable

    I agree with you.

Nosferatu was the first vampire movie ever which was based on complete fiction and was intended for pure entertainment purposes only. All of a sudden people started thinking that vampires were real and got lost in the land of make-believe. Unfortunately it still exists today among both kids and adults. Pathetic isn’t it?

People believe in god when there’s no “evidence” to support Him so I’d say the answer to your question has to be faith.

Now that is not true. Obviously if your speaking of movie vamps like the no sunlight, immortal, super human, or those like the Cullen’s (HE HE yes from twilight), but there are people who drink blood.
I saw a documentary a year or so ago about a men and women who meet with one another and are regularly tested and drink each others blood to an extent. Other than that because people like to believe, i mean look at children, santa clause, tooth fairy. Its also very entertaining.

i`m from Transylvania and believe me,this vampire thing is a mit, there was a guy Vlad Tepes, he was a mean sick bastard,he torture people, and he use to drink their blood, but nothing else to prove that he was a vampire.

Because they are bored with their own life and want to live in a fantasy world.

Vampires seem to represent the fear and primal instincts hidden deep in our minds. In the old folk tales they were often the reanimated bodies or spirits of mothers who died during childbirth. From there the vampire developed into a subliminally sexual being, evidenced by the neck biting above all else.

The recent surge in vampire belief can almost definitely be connected to the surge in new age religions and their teachings. While most new age religions do not directly introduce a belief in vampires, they teach about the movement of energies found within all things. This talk of a universal energy brought forth a new breed of vampire called a psychic vampire, literally meaning this vampire feeds off of the (psychic) energy of humans.

The demographic of those usually interested in vampires and their activities is usually comprised of wayward youth without a feeling of belonging.

In whole, Twilight is almost definitely to blame for some teenager’s belief in vampires. But we can’t blame twilight without blaming Anne Rice, and the thousands of other vampire books written before Stephanie Meyer was born.

There have always been people who believed in vampires…WAY before Twilight came out but its just all the obsessed teens which take it too far.
You could say the same thing about God. You could say ‘why do people believe in God when there is no evidence?’

People is afraid of the unknown so they refuse to believe in anything that is unworldly or supernatural. People lack the ability to realize that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. Its the ame with the loch ness monster…just becaus no one has SEEN it,it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It could be a pleseosaur from millions of years ago which got stuck in the loch seeing as it the loch used to be connected to the ocean.

Not everything is as what it may seem. Not everything is black & white, you’ve got to learn to open you’re eyes to the secrets & mysteries which we haven’t yet uncovered.
