Who thinks the Vampire Diaries Tv series doesnt stay very true to the books?

I’ve been watching the Tv drama Vampire diaries and i’ve read the books, and its getting on my nerves slightly.
I mean there’s things they’ve changed massivly and things they’ve missed completly.
what do you think?

I havent read the books but i think the show rocksssss……is intense romantic……is pretty cool i love it!!!!
It’s not suppose to be the same! Before they even started the show they told everyone that there are going to be changes and there are going to be similarities… so I don’t know take it or leave it I guess. I’ve read the books and don’t get me wrong they’re great! BUT I F’n LOVE the show! It’s intense and brilliant! Not to mention hot!
Books…?
Books seem to be difficult to translate to screen. I read the books after I started watching the series and they are different. Same with True Blood and the Sookie novels. But (both) the shows are “based on” the books, and are best viewed as separate things altogether. That’s how I manage to enjoy the books and the show, by looking at them as completely different to start with.
Well your right there not really following the books at all. But i guess its supposed to fall into place somehow. Oh! and be glad you read the books first cause i started the books before the second season came on and it confused the HECK out of me so its ok. As long as you understand it, its ok right? And sometimes if you need a summary of how the books go along with some of the episodes you can go online and look it up. If you need me to tell you the sites i will just comment me=)

well duh, they mentioned that it is going to be different so the people who read the books will be surprised in the series
i love the show and im almost done with the second book of the series. personally i dont know how you get annoyed with the differences. Sure the show is different, but there wudnt be a purpose for the show if it was EXACTLY like the book. Then you’d know exactly wat happenes next. Its like, whats the point of the suspense and surprise ya kno? Thats just my opinion
Yea they are not the same but I Love It! I honestly think the show is better than the book…so far
Of course it doesn’t follow the books closely. What’s the point in making the show then if you’ve read the books? It’s not Harry Potter.
