What makes the Twilight Saga books so appealing to you?

Go on, bash it with all your heart but my question is for Twilight fans only and it will be better if everyone remained civilized and stopped all this hatred.
I like Twilight because it a unique book. It’s actually the first romance book I read and I was hooked. The writing is so addicitive – almost like a drug and of course the characters are so realistic.
There are probably a hundred reasons why I love the saga.

I guess i like it because edward is so totally my dream guy! I also relate to bella a bit though…And i have always been interested in supernatural creatures so i guess that makes a appealing…I dont like the movie characters though…Not what i expected them to be when i read the books…
I actually haven’t read the books. I’ve read literally hundreds of books, and was turned off by the initial reviews. However, the insane, crazy, love hate relationship that the whole world (at least the female half) seems to have with these books is definitely what makes them appealing enough for me to want to read them. I just want to find out for myself, you know? Sorry if that’s not quite what you were looking for!
In all honesty, while I enjoyed reading the Twilight books, it wasn’t for any of the reasons you listed. The books are addictive, but the writing isn’t all that good (there are actually a whole lot of typos) and I didn’t think the characters were particularly realistic. For instance, think about Bella’s first day in Forks. Every guy she meets is already head over heels in love with her, and she has no trouble at all fitting in. That isn’t very realistic, to be honest.
That being said, I did very much enjoy reading those books. However, I believe the real reason was that it was a love story that everyone (well, many people) wished they could be a part of. You more or less knew you were getting a happy ending, and the books were just fun to read.
It is nice because it has got all the ingrediants for the making of a good teenage book(i prefer using teenage because well i’m giving my opinions): romance, fantasy, just enough of the real world and strong characters.
Romance: it ain’t like most teenage novels where high school girls have boyfriends, breaking up, having sex blah blah. it is different, to keep it short.
Fantasy: How can you not like a book with just a hint of magic and told in such a way that it is supposed make sense?
and there is so much more but i think if the characters werent sos trongly made it wouldnt be half as good. that applies to all books. if you just come up with great character, they can make the story come to life themselves.
Twilight is one of my favourate movies. it is a beautiful fairytale of love. especially i like the pureness and kindness in the charactor of hero, edward. o(?_?)o…
well, for me i love romance books. they have all the good high points of all book. love, tragedy, completion of two people, and hot guys taking off there shirts. those are only a few things that i love about the book.
It aggravates me when people rant on about how it’s such a crappy “piece of literature” when Meyer herself said that she is only a “story teller” and wanted to share with the world her story. I personally think it’s incredible. I am a college graduate but was never a big reader until I was given the first book by a roommate who swore up and down that it was the best thing in the world. It’s not a “fancy” piece of anything, people need to stop criticizing it and accepting it for what it is, an amazing story that people really enjoy. Regardless of what it is, why would anyone want to take someones joy away?
Who said it’s appealing.
Why would you like something that makes you lose brain cells.
Edward’s a freak. ALL the characters a freak. Seriously email me one reason why any of the characters are interesting.
I loved Twilight – the main reason – it was an escape from a stress filled reality!
I love romance and this is the perfect tale of romance – the initial attraction, the separation, the coming back together and then the fulfillment of their dreams – with action and drama and a rival thrown in for good measure!
I’m glad that the characters were not totally realistic – sparkling vampires appeal to me! I do read a lot and it was refreshing to get away from the dark, dank, stark reality of so many of the popular books.
I’m not sure one of the other posters understood what was happening in the beginning – this person stated that it was unrealistic that “all the boy’s” in Forks fell in love with Bella. First of all – not all the boys in the school were mentioned – and secondly, Forks was a small town.
It wasn’t often a new student arrived and when Bella appeared – it was “new game”. I don’t know that they were in love with her – she was just a new challenge.
And I totally agree with Taylor – everyone has the right to their opinion, but I believe its very rude and very immature to totally trash a book that obviously has a large following. If you don’t like the books – move on to another question!
We think part of the answer lies in its universal themes. Beneath the specifics of the Twilight plot, the novel contains some recurring motifs that have been popular in storytelling over time, including “forbidden love” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
From Shmoop
1) Twilight is NOT a saga. It is a series. Go ahead, look up both definitions, only series fits.
2) Yeah, I don’t really care who your target audience is for the question…you posted this in a public forum, thus, I’ll bash it all I want.
Twilight is far from unique. The forbidden romance thing has been done countless times before, and the only way Stephenie Meyer spiced it up was turning her rendition of vampires into rock solid disco balls.
The writing is HORRIBLE. She shoves so many unnecessary adjectives into a sentence when a simple description would have been fine. Using all her purple prose only make her look like more of a moron who does not take to time to check over her work. The writing also has gaping plot holes, signs of an awful writer. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a plot hole in EVERY book somewhere, but with Twilight, it’s pretty hard to navigate through that tripe without falling into one.
Realistic characters? I’ll ignore the supernatural part and assume you don’t think vampires and werewolves don’t actually walk the earth. Edward Cullen is an abusive stalker, who does nothing but disrespect Bella. Bella Swan is a whiny, vapid, ambitionless so-and-so who falls in love with said stalker, and NOTHING ELSE. They’re both devoid of any sort of personality, dreams, hopes, goals, anything. They are nothing more than vapid self inserts created by Meyer to draw people in so they don’t notice how horrid the books are. Snore. Jacob Black in real life would be questioned for pedophilia. So would that Quil guy.
There are probably a hundred reasons why I hate the series (not saga, I can’t say that enough).
I liked how (being a guy) having read it and often pretending it isn’t rubbish, girls would flock to me.
Any guy that bashes twilight, get over yourself pretend it is good and Girls will love you for it.
cuz its a romantic book, that its main role is a handsome guy built(written)by a mature woman who knows how women wants to be loved DUUUUHHHHHHHH! so its really a fiction aside from the vamp thing;)
P.S. PiccploO here above me once answered my Q and said that he did not enjoy the books, donno what changed his mind, haha
what i find very appealing is the romance they have going on; Edward is just perfect, and everything a girl can never have, so sweet, charming, sometimes it seems cheesy how sweet and special he can treat her but in reality we all wish we could have someone like him, and to read that story is like we can imagine him so perfect.
well thats just my opinion.. just thinking about Edward Cullen makes me want to melt.. lol
edwardzslady duh3
Well, its appealing because of its personality, ive read all the books in a week since i was so obsessed. I mean don’t get me wrong i wouldn’t kiss the book but its pretty good to keep you at the edge of your bed while your reading it. One reason i like twilight is because you don’t expect anything… for instance, say you made a prediction, and mostly it all comes out wrong. So well im gonna stop typing alot….
Totally agree with u on the addictive part, this book wasn’t my first romance book I read a lot of romance books and I never thought that a book could grab my attention so much. It was not only the book and how famous it became but is Stephenie Meyers style of writing her writing is just addictive. The story was so different from every vampire story I had read I never thought i would like this book but it turned out wrong for me bc i fell in love with the books.
i loved it because of the passion and adventure it has. you never quite know what to expect next, and the characters seem so real and life like
jacob black all the way!
