What are the characteristics of real vampires?

23 July 2010 452 views 9 Comments

Are they damned?
Do they have to sleep in coffins?
Does sunlight always kill them?
What about crucifixes? Crescent moons? Stakes? Silver?
Do they have to have super strength or speed or special abilities?
Can any ever be seen in a mirror?

That’s like ten questions. It would cost me fifty points if I asked them all separately. Should I ask them separately? (55 points)

As far as i know – the only characteristic real vampires all share is that there are none.

I could be wrong about that.. But odds are high that i’m right.

There are no characteristics of real vampires because there is no such thing as a real vampire.
The story began with a writer who wanted to entertain, similar to many movies we see today.
Do you believe that Barbie the doll is a real person, a real entity?
Of course not. You know that it’s a doll that Mattel made to entertain little girls.
So, the same with the idea of a vampire, or werewolves or any other mythology based stories.

If you’re looking for personal development of a character trait that would be super-human, look into your own mind. There are many powers that have been proven in the mind of the spirit that connects with the Divine which the people of today do not understand.
Numerology, reading the lines in palms, and astrology all point to the human spark created by the Divine Power. Churches today wash over this idea that we as humans can levitate on water (as Christ did), or hear people’s thoughts (if they want us to hear them), or even ask a Divine spirit of Heaven “what is the purpose of my life?”, and get a real solid answer in a human voice, and with no mystery to it.

The ability to ask the Divine Source for a healing of a broken leg for a stranger, and watching the divine spirits of Heaven heal that leg while you describe their hands, their perfect faces, their kindness and intellect, all as the powerful doctors of Heaven, (the Ancient texts called them Cheribum) heal that person because of your request from the Divine.
This is the heritage of the human. You need not water it down, nor let a family doctrine or a disbelief by others of yourself stop you from seeking that Divine Power for answers to life and all within it.

    According to old folklore:
They are red-faced or “rosy” and often fat.
    They are cursed by Church.
    Sunlight does not hurt them.
    They at least prefer graveyards.
They fear Christian symbols, garlic, and thorns, and can be killed by stakes, decapitation, hacking body to pieces and by fire.
Folklore does not know lack of reflection.
Super strength is rarely mentioned, super speed never.

To the answerer called ‘a’ -

Barbie is real. Some woman spent over $500,000 having plastic surgery to make herself a human doll.

No, No, No, No, Where did you get this super stuff from? No, and Yes, they can obviously see themselves/can be seen in a mirror.

Well, I will tell you what real vampires look like.
Here come the downvotes, =). I’ll leave links at the bottom for the open-minded, though.

    -No fangs.
-Any color eyes, only with a dark-colored ring around the outside of the eye, as well as a golden ring around the pupil. – Many will describe this as a “lion’s mane.”
    -Rather pale.
    -Photosensitive.
    -Nails –fingernails/toenails– grow more quickly.
    -Hair grows more quickly.
-Typically vampires have moderate to dark brown hair. I have never met one with black or blonde.
-May be preppy, emo, jock, goth, country, rocker, etc. Any stereotype.
-Glassy fingernails, but very hard to break or chip.
-Some have sharper canines, some do not.
-Sleeping in coffins is only if they are…eccentric.
    -Elegant walk about them.
    -Heightened reaction speeds.
    -Heightened Psi abilities.
    -Quiet footsteps.
-Often appear deep in thought, and/or solemn.
-May be anti-social or extremely social. Depends on the personality.
    -Enjoy the night.
    -Tend to be very nocturnal.
-They all have just as much of a reflection as anybody else does.
-Some enjoy human company whilst other see humans merely as food.
-Only about a third belong to Covens.
-All of the ones I know are very knowledgable about history in general. They are not necessarily “history buffs” by any means, but still.
-Seem to know everything about other peoples’ emotions, yet nobody ever knows much about them even though the people “think” that they do.
-May be happy one day, but drained the next day.
    -They are not undead.
-They often keep Donors rather than attacking random people. Vampires do not like STD’s either, you know.
-Vampires eat human food for nutrition, although tend to revolve more around fruits & vegetables.
-They drink blood, although a half a cup to a cup every 2-3 days is plenty enough to keep them healthy.
-Vampires must pay the bills, work –oftentimes day-shifts–, live in a house –unless they like caves….which is rather strange…–, and everything else.
-Vampires do not instantly become sexy or beautiful after their Awakening; however, for some unapparent reason, they do appear to quite attractive to humans — even when they do not appear so to other vampires.
-Eyes are hypnotizing when the vampire wants them to be.
    -Increased hearing.
    -Increased sight.
    -Better night-vision.
    -Increased smell.
    -They can smell blood.
-They can smell blood from a person even when it’s not been spilled.
-Vampires are not immortal. Bullets, stakes, fire, water, wind, lightning, and a punch to the nose the right way will all kill them. They will all kill you too, though.
-Vampires can be of any religion. Catholic, Satanic, Pagan, Wiccan, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, as well as any other ones out there.
-They always seem to know when somebody is and/or is just about to look at them.

This Answer is becoming entirely too long now, so I shall stop. Obviously they were in no particular order, but were put down merely as they came to my mind.

    Also,

I hate to break it to you, but in order to fully be a real vampire, you must have the genetics for it. It is a very rare thing to do since Lilith’s (Just Google “Adam and Lilith”) children have cross-bred so much, however some do have it.

It’s like in those hereditary charts that you learn in high school. You have V for non-vampire and v for vampire. There are four outcomes:

    VV Vv vV vv

The only one with which one shall be a real vampire is through the possession of the “vv” coding. Of course, it’s a bit more complicated than that, but that’s the basic concept, anyway.

In any event, I don’t know of any vampires who would Turn you –aside from for the sake of sheer cynical amusment–, as, assuming that it is possible for a human to become a vampire, the human would supposedly have the Hunger, but would not have many, if any, of the perks. So I’ve heard. I cannot personally attest to this fact, however I felt that I should inform you of it, regardless. Assuming that it is, indeed, true who do you know that would be able to have that on their concience for the rest of their lives? To make another being dependant upon some external source? Not many that I know of.

Regardless, vampires are real, but not as you would “know” them to be. You, my friend, have been watching too many vampire-related shows. If, howsoever, you or any other who views this question, would like to delve deeper into the world of vampirism, if I may do so, I would like to share the following sites with you:

    http://www.awakeanddrink.webs.com < ---Our site
    http://www.sanguinarius.org < ---Sangi's site of everything vampire.
http://www.vampirewebsite.net < ---Steve Leighton's site. It has information on the "Vampire Virus."
    http://www.drinkdeeplyanddream.com <—MemoryandDreams’s good general-info site.

    Some reading:
“The Book of Vampires” by Dudley Wright.

It is an un-biased study of vampirism’s roots. It was originally published under the name “Vampires and Vampirism” in 1914.

There are many more, but I do not feel like putting them down here.
Forewarning: If, in your searches, you come across any “vampiric” group that claims to have a seemingly role-play-like caste system, then they are all just a bunch of idiots. Do not believe any such sites. Also, any website making claims of “Classical vampires,” “Dhampirs,” etc. are false.

    ~Best of wishes,
    Zane and Azaria

P.S. It would be nice if you would at least visit the previously stated sites before down-voting me. Although, as I’m sure you all know very well, you probably will not do this, and will down-vote me anyway, which is fine. I am simply trying to help people think for themselves. To look at the sites means that there is one less arrogant being on this planet, which brings me great pleasure. To not look at them I could care less for. I have given you what I have and you shall do with it as you will. If 1/20 people views these sites, then I have achieved my goal for the day.

They’re not real. Except those psycho humans who make themselves believe that they’re vampires (losers) and ACTUALLY drink blood and only come out at night. -_-
