im not sure, but my guess is that drainers usually kill the vampire they take the blood from so their not around to feel what the persons feeling.
although lafayette didnt kill the vampire for blood, so other theory is that mayb they have to drink the blood straight from the vampire.

and Vampire Diaries.. both were written long before Stephanie Meyer has that “dream” for Twilight.
so any thing that seems to be the same a twilight is her fault not the authors of the other books.
