There was actually poetry and short stories about vampires before Stoker’s Dracula, but his novel is just the most influential of all the vampire stories. Stoker based his novel off of said past poetry and short stories like: The Vampyre’ which was highly successful and the most influential vampire work of the early 19th century. His “Dracula” is just what today’s modern vampire evolved from. ^^
