@raelylovely because esther had a secret affair with one of the werewolves….the result of which is Klaus……n Michael has a huge ego/pride which was magnified after he turned into a vampire (as told by Rebeckah). This explains he killing Esther in a fit of rage, but many people have suggested here that its Klaus only who killed his mother, so i dont know for sure, we will have to see…..
