This is a very well thought out series that takes the psychic nature of the vampire myth and grounds it with an intriguing new angle. Add on top of this a healthy dose of realism with the grungy, sexually bursting society and you have a vampire book that will keep you guessing. Its not your teen angst, run of the mill, variety of over produced schlock. There is a definitish chance that you will read and reread, and pick up something different at every turn. you can feel the layered society that the characters play in, in stark contrast to many less serious novelists, is almost as deep and artistic as the characters themselves. If your gonna pass up on a vampire book…skip twilight and press the buy button… trust me, your libido will thank you.

I love vampires, and I try to read every book I can find on the subject. This is the best vampire story I’ve ever read. The characters are realistic and believable, and Marcus is the best. Highly recommended, I have read each book in the trilogy and can’t decide which one I like the best, but this one might be it.

I have to thank my friend Laura who turned me on to Paul Beach.
