Julie Plec Dishes on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 3

I’m Joslyn Davis with hot scoop from my friend Robyn Ross over at TV Guide. She just chatted with Julie Plec, the woman in charge over on The Vampire Diaries, all about what’s in store for season 3. I’m guessing that most of you are dying for some answers regarding the whole Damon-Stefan-Elena love triangle. The close of season 2 left things in a more complex state than even we could have imagined. So will the Damon-Elena kiss change things for good in Mystic Falls? Well Julie Plec said that Damon’s “entire journey had been ‘I’m not worthy of you’ and at the end of the season, as he’s dying, [Elena] tells him ‘yes, you are; you’re worthy.’” Julie added that she “thought it was really important and a really nice ending to that journey,” however she also notes that in their world “the end of any journey opens up the beginning of a whole lot of drama.” Plus, now that Stefan is semi-out of the picture, the door is wide open for Damon to swoop in and save the day. As far as Stefan is concerned, Julie reveals that when the show returns “no one will have heard from him, no one will have seen him and the audience won’t know where he’s been and what he’s going through is going to be pretty surprising.” A scene that viewers should start prepping themselves for will be at Elena’s 18th birthday party. @TheSoapylicious Exactly, and if Damon didn’t have any good intentions to begin with he wouldn’t have gone through that dramatic change in character since the beginning of the first season until now. He could’ve ruined everything for his brother and probably even stole Elena if he wanted to, but he restrains himself from hurting anyone anymore -especially the ones he really loves. Geez, does nobody remember what he did for Rose ?! And yeah, Stefans “perfect” attitude is SO boring.

@mgc26133 I agree with most of your points. And believe me, I an not trying to make amneds for all of damons actions. He acts on improvisation and does not think rationally. but despite all that, it does not necesarally prove in anyway that he is worse for elena than stefan. if anything, being with elena can change him. And on a last point, you got one of your facts wrong. Damon was not at all responsible for the dath of sheila. it was bonnie who convinced sheila to remove the spell ……….
@delenalovergirl …. that, he’s harmless. He has the ability to forgive, make amends (He wanted truce with Mason, which Damon ruined; he acceptep to apologise from Elijah, while Damon was saying “you can all go to hell”; no matter how badly he hated her, he could’t kill Katherine; etc), he’s kind, friendly. My point here, I like Damon more, but Stefan’s better for her. Just like we all know Tyler can be very dangerous at times, but that doesn’t change one bit of our idea about him and Caroline.
@delenalovergirl …. naming him Damon, for it’s resemblence to “demon”, as he’s really demonic. But to be honest, that’s why we like him in the first place, he is reckless, he has guts. I remember his face when he first met Elijah and staked him, and how he stood between him and Elena. Every single one who messed with him paid for it. He has that. @delenalovergirl …. because of him, but after that road trip we started to like him. Think that if things like vervain, ring, etc hasn’t stopped him, he would have killed Caroline, Bonnie, Alaric, John, Jeremy, and many others. You must remember that he killed Zach, Lexi, Mason; caused Sheila’s death, turned Vicky, all for really selfish reasons.. And Vicky and Stefan had to beg him not to kill Tyler, just like Alaric had to beg him not to kill Andie. I believe L.J. Smith had a point when

@delenalovergirl I like Damon. He is funny and cares deeply about Elena and like you said he can do just about anything to protect her. But the problem is he doesn’t think of the consequences that his actions might cause.. Like when he forced Elena to drink his blood, then he regretted it and events ended up him being bitten by Tyler, leading Stefan in his current situation. Being good deep inside doesn’t make all the kills and pains caused by him okey. Almost all the deaths in season 1 was

@CloudFreedomFighters and at another point, i believe that stefan never really loved elena. And I know you might not agree, but think of it from my point of view. The only reason stefan met elena was because she looked like katharine. if she did not look like katharine, stefan would not have cared. But damon started the series hating elena and grew to be friends and eventually fall in love with her. that is true love. Damon did not need inttiative to fall in love with her like stefan did.
@CloudFreedomFighters i agree that you do have some solid points. But think about it this way. damon does go to extreme meausres to protect elena. but all stefan does is care about her feelings. And while I will admit it is a very noble gesture, in the end damon will be the one to keep elena alive. He will let her hate him, but that is the truly noble gesture because Damon will risk anything for elena.

@delenalovergirl And like you said, Stefan on bloodlust is uncontrollable. Damon is pretty much uncontrollable all the time.
@delenalovergirl I’m very aware of Stefan turning Damon, but Damon already said to Stefan that his choices are his and not Stefan’s fault. And in the real world there are plenty of guys like Stefan and plenty of guys like Damon (just less extreme of course lol) and I’m also aware of Stefan’s issues and I look forward to seeing them, the only thing is Stefan wasn’t the one to put Elena through all the worry and the pain. Stefan when on blood did, but overall Stefan 25% and Damon 85% of all that.
Damon can swoop in and save the day… hahahaha… Damon is the reason why Stefan is now a ripper… selfish bastard all he knows is how to spoil a day and then Stefan saves the day… sick and tired of Damon playing a martyr…he is selfish..and if he tries to charm Elena instead of looking for Stefan and help him I will hate him even more… hope Stefan killes him then beacuse he deserve it
@CloudFreedomFighters just remember that things can change in one season. As shown in the series, stefan is uncontrollable with bloodlust. He can damon look like the “good guy”
@CloudFreedomFighters stefan is much worse than damon. damon became a vampire because of stefan. for all you know, at the end of season 3, stefan could have killed bonnie and caroline and jeremy. You never know. And by then, you could be favouring damon for being the sensible one compared to stefan.stefan has a dark side too. its annoys you that you think girls like damon for his looks. it annoys me that everyone thinks damon is the only one with issues. stefan is worse.
@CloudFreedomFighters first of all, i do agree that some girls think that damon and elena should be together because damon is “hotter’. but i was not discussing this topic, as mentioned before. As for the relationship with damon/stefan/elena, the vampire diaries is not actually a real show. there might be no actual people like stefan in the world who are nice and caring and all of that. thsi is real life. also, keep in mind that stefan also has a dark side. and its going to come out in season 3
@mayeomans1 I know it wasn’t one of the choices but I don’t like Team Stefan or Team Damon.
